Studio Policies

Studio Policies

Thank you for choosing me as your piano teacher! I am honored and excited to be teaching your child this year.  The following policies will help your child have a successful year and will let you know what to expect this year.

Fees and Payment

  • Yearly fee of $30 per family for assignment sheets and supplementary materials: due in August.

  • Lessons are $27 per 30 minutes. School Year (10 months) tuition will be divided into 10 equal payments. Your tuition reserves your exclusive lesson time slot.

    • Payment by check/cash/Zelle for the entire month is due at the first lesson of the month.  Payment by Zelle is preferred. An invoice will be sent each month with the amount due.

Missed Lessons

  • Your tuition is based on enrollment not attendance, lessons missed by the student are non-refundable and can not be made up. If for some unexpected reason I am unable to teach a lesson it will be refunded.

  • Your lesson can be conducted over Zoom if your child is sick or if you are out of town and still have access to a piano.

  • If your child will miss a lesson for any reason please give me at least two hours advance notice if possible.

Student and Parent Commitment

  • The single biggest obstacle to success as a musician is the failure of students to develop, and stick with, a regular practice routine.

  • In order for this investment in your child to pay off it is critical that you help your child maintain a regular practice routine.

  • Younger children will need parental supervision to help them read and understand lesson assignments.

  • Minimum practice duration:  Primer Level--15 minutes; Level 1--20 minutes; Level 2, 3, 4--30 minutes, Level 5--30-45 minutes, Advanced--45-60 minutes.  All levels are expected to practice at least 4 days a week.

  • I want every student to be successful and every parent to get their money’s worth.  It is best to discontinue lessons with students who are unable to meet the minimum practice time. If the student can’t put in the practice time, lessons will be of little benefit. If you and your child are having difficulties with this requirement, I will be happy to work with you to find ways to develop a practice routine.

Medical Emergency

  • Please make sure to provide a current emergency contact and any allergy or other relevant information.

  • In case of a medical emergency when parents are not present,  I will use my best judgment about whether to call 911 for your child and I will call the emergency contact as soon as possible.  You are responsible for any resulting medical expenses.

  • I will turn the decisions for medical care over to the principal if the lesson takes place at your child’s school.

Communication

  • Primary communication will be through the student/parent portal on my website where you will find lesson assignments, and other materials for your child as well as a calendar and invoice information and studio news.

  • Please let me know if there are any problems or confusion about the week’s lesson assignment so that practice can be as productive as possible.

  •  Feel free to email or text me with any questions you have.

Thank you for the commitment you have made to your child.  The benefits of playing the piano will extend into all areas of your child’s life.  It is my privilege to help them open up to the wonderful, joyous world of being a pianist.
